Enjoy a simple outdoor Halloween celebration with kids.
I’m in a stage where I’m seeking a simple, quiet life. We’ve been savoring quality time together with activities and spontaneous outdoor play. We’ve paused arts and crafts lately due to the boys’ football practices, but we make it a priority to return to crafting whenever we can.
This herfstvakantie (fall vacation), we embraced the season with plenty of outdoor play during the day and cozy Halloween movie marathons in the evenings. We decided to take a week-long break from the football practices, allowing more time for relaxation and fun.
For Halloween, I organized a simple, festive outdoor party for my boys. We enjoyed sweet treats, shared spooky Halloween stories, and read a fun seasonal book, Spookermarket.
In the afternoon, I set up a second Halloween celebration and invited friends to join. The kids laughed and played, creating their own Halloween games outdoor, while we adults enjoyed the festive atmosphere and a chance to catch up. It was a day filled with warmth, fun and lasting memories—perfectly capturing the spirit of a simple yet joyful Halloween.
Most of our Halloween decorations this year were recycled from previous celebrations. Embracing my slow living philosophy, I made a conscious decision to buy fewer items that we don’t really need. This approach not only minimized waste but also allowed us to cherish the memories associated with each decoration, making our celebration more meaningful and aligned with our values of simplicity and sustainability.
Witching you a happy Halloween!
